Mission of Japan Forming Machinery Association 

Developing and improving policies on the manufacture, commercial activities, trades, utilization of Metal Forming Machinery, and other various activities, JFMA is aiming to serve the sound development of forming machinery industry and related industries, and consequently to contribute to the prosperity of Japanese economy.

History of the Association

Japan Forming Machinery Society was established on December 1, 1948, and was approved as an incorporated body, Japan Forming Machinery Association (JFMA), on June 15, 1984 by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (presently, being called "Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry"). Since then, this association has been working to the sound development of Forming Machinery Industry for over 60 years.

History

1948

Japan Forming Machinery Society was established.

1951

By the consignment of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (presently, being called "Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry"), the trial manufacture of a high performance press was carried out .

1954

The forming machinery industry was nominated by "The Promotion Law of Forming Machinery Rationalization, Japan" for the industry.

1957

Japan Forming Machinery Society changed its name to Japan Forming Machinery Association as presently being used.  

1958

Mechanical press, hydraulic press and shearing machine were additionally nominated in the appointed products under "The Law of Temporary Steps for Promotion of Machine Industries".

1959

Japan Forming Machinery Association participated in Tokyo International Trade Fair and presented its products.

1961

The First delegation was dispatched for Overseas Machine Industries.

1962

26 member companies of the Japan Forming Machinery Association participated in The First International Trade Fair for Machine Tools and presented the products.

1967

Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS) for Press Machines was established.

1968

Moved to kikaishinko Building.

1971

"The Law of Temporary Steps for Promotion of Specific Electronic Industries and Specific Machine Industries" was established.

1975

The first delegation to the Trade Fair on Machine Tools in Europe was dispatched.

1976

The delegation to the Trade Fair on Machine Tools in U.S.A was dispatched.

1978

The Law of Tentative Steps for Promotion of Specific Machine and Information Industries was established.

 

1984 

The Association started as an incorporated body.

1987

Appointed Employment Adjustment Subsidy System for the industry.

1994 

Our industry started for preparing the Manuals on Products Liability (PL) for major products of machinery and equipment.

1995 

Institution for Products Liability (PL) Insurance was established among domestic industrial associations, societies and groups. Revision of Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS) was made in compliance with ISO Standards

2000 

Homepage of JFMA was released.

2002 

"Tan-atsu" the Industry Association publication re-started.

2004 

JFMA jointly sponsored The International Metal Plate Forming Exhibition in China.

2006 

The standardization of Servo Press was completed in JFMA. “Our vision for the Forming Machine Industry“ was released.

2007 

The review of stipulations of JFMA rules was made.
Holding MF-Tokyo,JFMA's own exhibition was decided.

2008 

Enhancement of four different Specialty Committees.
Released the secondary Servo Press standardization.

2009 

"MF ECO-MACHINE Certification System" started.
The name of association was changed to General Incorporated Association, Japan Forming Machinery Association.
The name of newsletter was changed to "METALFORM".
Organized Metal Forming & Fabricating Fair Tokyo.

2010

MF Technical Grand Prize established
